Versatility Ranch Horse Show Application

Clinic Application

Beginning Horsemanship Clinic
Learn the Carl Wood Program of training and riding.  For those individuals that want to learn more control and how to ride better. "The Program by Carl Wood" will help teach you how to use your body to signal the horse what to do. Complicated maneuvers are broken down into simplified exercises filling in all the holes in the riders that have been riding for a long time. And giving the basic building blocks for the beginning riders and horses.  This is the best clinic to learn where your holes are and how to correct them. For young horses: Now you have him broke, where do you go from there? Using "The Program by Carl Wood", you will learn how to get the most out of your young horse without blowing his mind. This is a prerequisite for the intermediate and advanced horsemanship clinics. Pre-registration required.

Intermediate Horsemanship Clinic
For the more advanced rider that has taken lessons or completed the Beginning Horsemanship clinic. We offer an Intermediate and Advanced Horsemanship Clinics.. It will give you more advanced exercises to continue training your horse at higher levels. More advanced exercises, putting together combinations of exercises, and more advanced maneuvers like flying lead changes, sliding stops, problem solving, and etc.

Colt Starting Clinic
This is a serious clinic for those who really want to start their own or their clients' horses. We will take five 2 year olds that have not been ridden but just halter broke, and lead you through all the steps that we go through here at Doubletree. Carl will show you his methods that have been developed over many years. No two horses are alike, so different approaches are needed for each, with the same goal in mind. If you have a two year old that is trainable, halter broke, has some manners, and has not been ridden and wish to have it in the clinic please contact Carl. The owners will also be included in the training.  Advanced registration required.

Cutting Clinic
Learn the basics and introduce novice horses to the cows. Learn the four corners, herd entry, cut from the herd, and how to choose your cows. Little talk and lots of action! Space is limited, call early to reserve your spot.

Basic Cow Clinic (Part 1)
You will learn how to get a cow where you want them and how to read and figure out what they are about to do. Young horses will benefit from this clinic because it will introduce them in the best way to work the cattle and spark their interest in looking at a cow. If you ever want to do Versatility Ranch Horse, then this is a good clinic to work cows. Advanced registration required.

Working Cow Horse Clinic
Learning to read cattle, being able to control their movements and put them where you want them. You will get to do end work, down the fence, and circling. You will also learn how the working cow horse classes are run and what the judge is looking for. Advanced registration required.

Attend one of our Versatility Ranch Horse Clinics and see just how much fun you can have while attending one of our shows. Trail, Ranch riding, Cutting, and Working Ranch Cow Horse classes will be taught. Learn what the rules are and what the judges are looking for. You will get to practice for the upcoming shows. Rules and entry forms can be found on the Versatility Ranch Horse Program page. Advanced registration required.

Reining Clinic
Not only will you learn the refinements of spins, slide stops, and lead changes but you will also learn the exercises that will improve any problems your horse might have in achieving his best score. It is not all the horse that needs the work but riders need to understand what picture they are projecting to the judge as well. Beginning to Advanced riders will learn from this clinic.  Advanced registration required.
